our story
Honoring Our Local Veterans
We are an organization developed by veterans, churches, and concerning members of the community, with a strong desire to bring awareness to the seriousness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and to bring attention to the alarming rate of veteran suicide. We believe in veterans helping veterans, thus the idea was created to gather in the community and show our support in three specific areas: First, by simply hosting a community event and partnering with churches, organizations, and businesses, we’re able to bring attention to the real life struggles of our veterans. Second, by using the event to raise funds for organizations that are currently and actively helping veterans, we are saying and showing our local veterans that we deeply care. Thirdly, we give honor where honor is due. Every year we honor a local family that has lost a loved one in the line of duty. Also all funds that are raised at the event or given on behalf of the fallen soldier.
How it works
We strive to be transparent in what we do as well as how we handle every aspect of this organization. Below is an example of how we accomplish our mission of helping and supporting our local veterans.
1. Annual Fundraising Banquet
Each year we host a fundraising banquet at Lakeside Pavilion in Marble Falls, Texas. We sell tickets offering a plate of food and an evening of different auctions. We usually seek financial backing for the food and auction items throughout business, churches, and individuals, to help accommodate the cost of admission. This allows us to make this event affordable. Our goal is to gather as many people we can and give them the best opportunity to win something at the auctions.
2. Non-Profit Organizations (Texas)
The annual fundraising banquet and auctions exist to raise money in support of local (Texas based) veteran non-profit organizations that are already helping our veterans. Each year we vet multiple organizations before narrowing down to just one. Proceeds from the event go to both supporting the chosen non-profit veteran organization and towards the cost of next years event.
3. Honoring Local Gold Star Families
We've made it a point every year to honor a local Gold Star family. Each year we reach out to one family and build the event around them. We want them to know that the memory of their loved one is appreciated and never forgotten. We take the time to tell their story and present them with a keepsake from the event. Lastly, when we cut the check towards the chosen organization from the event, we do so on behalf of the family.
